Delta Air Lines on Thursday said it would add first class seats to domestic flights longer than 750 miles or about two and a half hours long later this year.
Once upgrades are completed, 50 routes that feature Delta Connection flights with just one service class will have both first and economy class, the company said.
By autumn, Delta's fleet will include 219 regional aircraft with two-class service, the company said. Service on the new two-class flights may be operated by regional carriers SkyWest, Pinnacle Airlines, Chautauqua and others, it added.
Meals and linen service are offered on all regional flights that feature a first class cabin, Delta said. It said planes that have first class include Embraer and Bombardier models.

Etihad Airways has been ranked among the best three airlines in the world by leading Swiss business publication, BILANZ.
The ranking comes following a survey of frequent flyers in Switzerland and after comparisons of different airlines undertaken by BILANZ journalists themselves. BILANZ also used recent international surveys such as the Skytrax ratings - in which Etihad was awarded World’s Best First Class by almost 18 million air travellers worldwide - to confirm the airline’s overall ranking.
As well as being ranked third best airline in the world, Etihad Airways was ranked number one in the ‘Onboard Service’ category and second in the ‘Business Class’ category.
The BILANZ ratings are conducted annually, and the results are among the most highly regarded in the Swiss market.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer said: “I am very proud that in less than seven years, Etihad Airways has risen to be among the top three airlines operating to Switzerland, which is a very important market for Etihad.

Five Star Carrier Strengthens Its Presence In Spain With Second Destination
Barcelona, SPAIN – Qatar Airways, one of the world’s fastest-growing airlines, achieved yet another milestone yesterday as it launched daily flights between Doha and Barcelona – its 90th destination.
With the touchdown of flight QR067 in Barcelona, where the aircraft was welcomed by a dramatic water salute and met by senior airport officials and local dignitaries, the airline reinforced its position as the only Gulf carrier flying to Spain.
Barcelona is Qatar Airways’ second city served in Spain, after Madrid, and is expected to receive great response from leisure and business travellers alike. The new route underscores a growing commitment by the airline to the Spanish market following earlier capacity increases to the country’s capital city of Madrid last year.
